At Lycon Translation, quality and just-in-time delivery has always been the number one of its major concerns. Translating this wish into hard facts entails a strict and extensive Quality Assurance System to remove defects and what is more important to prevent their reoccurrence.
At Lycon Translation, it is compulsory to complete all projects following the guidelines set forth in the Quality Manual. The latter includes standards and procedures for each and every single activity performed by our team, from the assignment of personnel for each project to translation details, including management and successive quality control.
Continuous analysis and internal and external audits enable a permanent revision and update of our procedures to deliver the quality that our clients not only expect but also deserve.
System is good when people work on it.
So we pay attention to QA System and people working on it.
1. People
"Success means right people do right thing at right time."
Only people with a conscientious, responsible and details-minded nature will be designated for each project. Such people shall present a strong evidence of its experience in target language and specific fields. Lycon Translation is a team with these features.
1) Translator
We only use qualified native speakers for each lingual task. Such speakers come from our full-time or part-time translator and/or interpreter. Go to "Employment" for details of our practice to find a qualified contractor.
2) Editor or proofreader
Translated file is subject to an editing or proofreading by an independent, internal or external expert in the target field. Such file is intermediate and subject to further proofreading by a project manager.
3) Project Manager
A project manager is responsible for the organization and implementation of a lingual task and responsible to ensure a quality and just-in-time delivery. Verified and signed file by the project manager becomes final.
2. The way to perform a lingual task
The way to perform a lingual task is only secondary to people working on it.
At Lycon Translation, quality and just-in-time delivery comes from people working on it and:
1) Terminology management. Glossaries are available for diversified sectors. A customized glossary can be created to satisfy the project, we use Trados 6.5 and MultiTerm 2003 for such purpose. We may turn to the client for exact wording or explanation since they are experts in the subject field.
2) Ongoing or follow-up training. Members shall be experienced in the style of different sectors, for example, the style of operation manual and news release makes the great difference.
3) Assign a team as small as possible within allotted time to ensure consistency and style.
4) Internal and external communication. Daily quality feedback from internal or external editors and proofreaders can stop a translator going too far to a mistake, can improve efficiency and quality at the same time.
5) Outside technical source. Lycon Translation will turn to such experts for help when it is beyond the agency to find an exact wording or read the sentence in the right sense.
6) Regular meeting. Regular meeting is designed to allow members to keep track of the project, to sample a qualified translation and to solve specific problems.
