Lycon Translation is constantly hunting for professional contract or freelance translator, editor or proofreader ("Contractor (s)"). A native or near-native qualified contractor (s) shall be:

1.  College or university degree (or above) holder;

2.  At least 5-year experience in translation, editing, proofreading, localization, DTP or other linguistic task, and a strong background in specific fields;

3.  Ownership of all necessary resources, including but not limited to hardware, software, fast Internet connection and others necessary for the task;

4.  Ownership of CAT tool (preferred but not a must, Trados 5.0 or above preferred);

5.  Responsible and details-minded nature.

Priority or preference goes to self-employed contractor (s) or contractor (s) working with translation agencies (or with such experience).

As a practice here, Lycon Translation sends a Vendor Questionnaire to each interested party meeting the above requirements followed by a free sample test. Right candidates will be added to our qualified contractor list.

For contractor (s) not working with Lycon Translation on a frequent or regular basis, Lycon Translation pays in full amount within 30 days upon the receipt of delivery and invoice. Payment to contractor (s) working with Lycon Translation on a frequent or regular basis, however, is on a monthly basis. Lycon Translation sends contractor (s) a statistics at the end of each month for his/her confirmation, contractor (s) is deemed to accept the amount in the statistics upon his/her confirmation or no objection expressed within a reasonable time frame. 100% payment effected within the first ten (10) days of next month is based on such statistics. For foreign contractor (s), a PayPal account is preferred, other payment methods can be considered when necessary. Generally, any service charge by the bank when effecting the payment shall be on contractors' part. Before or after the full payment, contractor (s) is responsible for free and immediate revision of parts Lycon Translation and/or Lycon Translation's clients consider necessary.

Rate and/or price is based on the size of source file (per source word, for example), EXCLUDING number, decimal and others which require no translation. Delivery submitted to Lycon Translation's clients or revised delivery by such clients shall govern in the statistics. Such rate and/or word count is determined before the startup, including the rate for no match, repetition and fuzzy for Trados or others involved tasks (the report produced by Lycon Translation with Trados or others similar shall govern in the statistics of no match, repetition and fuzzy parts. Such report is delivered with source file). Contractor (s) is deemed to accept such rate and/or word count upon its confirmation and/or no objection expressed within a reasonable time frame. Any amendment in the rate and/or word count is subject to the written agreement of both parties.

Generally, Lycon Translation only uses contractors' service to translate a foreign language into his/her mother tongue in the field contractor (s) show a strong background.
